Seating Clinic

On December 4, 2008, I attended a Seating Clinic. For those of you unfamiliar with the term Seating Clinic, that is where you are evaluated for a wheelchair. I met and talked with the nicest doctor, Dr. Condit, who was very honest with me. He suggested I start this blog. I told him that I have basically become a hermit in the last thee years because it is too much trouble to get around in stores in a wheelchair and/or my walker. It is a pet peeve with me because, I have as much a right to go shopping as anyone else. The stores are overstocked with merchandise so you can't get around without stumbling and falling over something. People stare at you like you have leprosy or something. Come on now, we are all made up of basicaaly the same matter. People will also run over you like they don't see you.

There are suppose to be Federal Laws for the protection of the handicap, my thoughts are no one is ever fined for breaking the law, so why would they obey it. Don't let the tag on your vehicle be one day late or there penalties out the wasoo, if that is a word. I cannot drive or I would personally go to stores and write them up for the laws they are breaking. Due to my age and Dr, Condit and I agreeing about my mucles atrophying without use, we decided on a manual wheelchair.

I have trigeminal neuralgia, aka "the suicide decease", and there are not any treatments I haven't tried. The MVD left me partially paralyzed on the left side due to a stroke suffered during surgery. One brain surgery turned into four. Don't get me wrong, I would probably do it over again. The pain from this disease is extremely intense. The medication that helps with my pain, is causing me to fall alot. I had about 10 falls this morning when getting up. It is very frustrating. My living space will not allow the room for a motorized wheelchair.

Won't you join me in letting the coporate headquarters of these retail stores know about the laws they are breaking?

Paula
